Modul Kollektiv reviews the DSP-8C

Thanks to Johannes and the team at Modul Kollektiv for taking the time to review the DSP-8C. Here's what they had to say:

"After spending some time testing the DSP-8C, I can honestly say this unit feels incredibly serious the moment you take it out of the box. The compact aluminum housing measures around 330 x 180 x 110 mm and weighs only about 1.5 kg, but inside there is an impressive amount of processing power packed into this small chassis. The setup process was surprisingly smooth. I connected the unit through USB first, but it also offers optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs which makes integration into different audio systems very easy. On the back you get 8 RCA outputs and 8 balanced XLR outputs, which is honestly amazing for a device in this size category. I especially liked that every output channel can be individually configured for balanced or single-ended operation.

Sound quality is where the DSP-8C really stands out. The ES9039SPRO DAC combined with the OPA1612 output stage delivers a super clean and detailed presentation with huge dynamic range. Vocals sounded incredibly precise while bass remained tight and controlled even during more demanding tracks.

The package also includes a remote control, power adapter and USB cable, so you can basically start immediately.

KOLLEKTIVO CONCLUSIO: The DSP-8C is an extremely impressive DSP and preamp solution with professional connectivity, compact dimensions and outstanding sound performance. If you are serious about room correction, active speakers or high-end audio optimization, this device is absolutely worth checking out"
